Neuroimaging Fellowship at the Dent Neurologic Institute


The Dent Neurologic Institute offers a one‑year Neuroimaging Fellowship beginning each July. The program is based within a large, high‑volume outpatient neurology practice, providing immersive training across the full spectrum of clinical neuroimaging.


What the fellowship Includes:

  • MRI of the brain and spine with comprehensive exposure to advanced imaging techniques.
  • CT of the head with emphasis on clinical application and interpretation.
  • Neurosonology training, including carotid Doppler and Transcranial Doppler.
  • Foundational science of neuroimaging, ensuring a strong understanding of imaging physics and principles.
  • Clinical interpretation across modalities with direct faculty mentorship.
  • Neuroimaging research opportunities, supporting scholarly development and academic productivity.


Certification Pathways

Graduates of the program are eligible for:

  • Clinical certification in MRI and Neurosonology through the American Society of Neuroimaging.
  • The UCNS Neuroimaging Certification Pathway for Neurologists, meeting the training requirements for this nationally recognized credential.


About the Fellowship
  • Accredited through UCNS (United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties)
  • 1 year paid Fellowship with benefits full-time preferably July to June
  • Attendance to the ASN Annual meeting
  • Access to Neuroimaging Teaching Files (1000s of cases)


Requirements:
  • Unrestricted NYS License (4-6 months to obtain)
  • Must have completed a Residency Program in the United States
  • CV
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation (one preferably from Chief of Neurology Service)


Preceptorship Opportunities*

  • Preparation for the UCNS Certification Exam
  • Obtain experience in executing and interpreting neurologic MRI and/or CT studies
